A Letter From the Mayor

Welcome to the City of Kemah, Texas, the Gulf Coast's 'Gateway to the Bay'. The name Kemah comes from the Karankawan (Native American) phrase 'Wind in the Face', which is evidenced by our ever present cooling Gulf breeze. Kemah is a family friendly destination that includes a variety of restaurants, amusements, seasonal festivals, retail shops, and waterfront views. Kemah is also home to the one of the largest pleasure boat fleets in the United States.

Come and Stay.  Kemah continues to attract visitors from across the world, Texas, and the Houston-Galveston region, hosting about 3.5 million visitors annually.  We hope that you will enjoy your visit to Kemah, whether it's a day trip with the family, or several nights in one of our many hotels or bed and breakfast inns.

Mayor Carl Joiner
